Hello!
It has been way too long since my last blog. I feel like I don't have much to talk about, even though I know there has been a lot going on.
We just got back from a wonderful family vacation in sunny Florida. Overall, I'd say it was a success traveling with a 3.5 month old, but it wasn't exactly easy. I found that vacation with a baby was pretty much like regular life, except beachier. Still had to work around her feedings and naps, and of course by the end of the day I was exhausted.
Charlotte is still quite unpredictable. I thought I had her figured out, that she'd gotten easier...then I had to go and screw up life as she knew it by taking her on vacation. She had been doing a lot of screaming for a few days, still does, but I'm figuring it out. It is usually out of sheer exhaustion, and she almost prefers to be tucked into bed instead of in my arms. I know that is a good thing, but tonight as I put her in bed while she was still semi-bright eyed, I felt funny. I like rocking her to help her drift off to dreamland. I love snuggling the little peanut head.
Speaking of peanut head, she's still as bald as a cue ball. She has some soft bunny like hair on the back of her head that gets messy when she sleeps. When will she get hair?! And she's skinny. What a funny baby.
In other skinny baby news, I am not skinny. I decided it's time I actively start watching what I eat. I LOVE food, and I love to eat. And I'm hoping that I'll feel a little less frumpy once I lose a few lbs. In all honesty, it's only just a couple of pounds. So I'm thinking there will be a lot more working out to be done to get things looking a little better. It's like I was pregnant in my thighs, upper arms, and face.
Over the last few months I've tried a few things that I thought would help me feel more refreshed. New mascara, self tanner, a new hair color...
None of it really worked. Although the self tan is to die for! Best one I've found!
Anyway. I'm a glass and a half of wine in, and it's time to party instead of blog. Now replace "party" with "sleep".
Have a great weekend. :)

Hello, Sunshine!
I am so looking forward to vacation!
I leave for Florida on monday and the forecast couldn't look any better. I am surprisingly not all that nervous to travel or vacation with our little baby, which is strange, because I always used to have the worst pre travel anxiety. My priorities must have changed a bit or something, but I like it.
It's not going to be the vacation that I've been used to, doing things on my own time and sleeping in and having x amount of cocktails in the middle of the day. That's okay though, it's our first family vacation and Charlotte has been doing really well the past couple of weeks. I think she'll love florida, and we'll have to go at least once a year to keep her happy. :)
In other news, work has been going well. I don't mind at all getting back to the real world, although I secretly wonder why people don't want to listen to me about my baby all day. At the same time, I get really annoyed at the people who never spoke to me at work before and now they only talk to me about dumb baby things. Such as, "Oh, I like your earrings, I bet Charlotte likes them too."
I have such a hard time not being a smartass in response, but smartass comes out of my pores and there's nothing I can do about it. So I stifle it the best I can and reply "I don't think she really has an opinion yet..."
Or there's a woman who never had anything to say to me before, and now she only refers to me as "Charlotte's Mother/Mom/Mommy". As though it's my name. As in "Hello Charlotte's Mother."
She's never even met the baby! What the What?! I apparently no longer have an identity.
Oh, and good news! I won a fabulous copy of Oprah's coffee table book for my vlog! It was either very random, or a pity win, because I certainly don't deserve it! Maybe I'll get good at it and magically become interesting and I'll deserve a win! :)
I've had a couple people ask about blog "following". If you have gmail, you can click on the right side of the blog where it shows followers, and when you go to blogger.com you'll get the updates. There may be other ways to subscribe as well, but that's the one way I know how.
I might take a bloggy break while I'm on vacation, but if something real good happens, I might have to let y'all know. :)
Have a happy week!

I'm A Video Chick
OKAY. I've been encouraged to post a vlog. I figure if I let you know that I'll be doing it, I will have to do it. However, my personal laptop is on, what I like to call, the fritz.
So, tomorrow I will attempt my first vlog, and hopefully I'll have it posted within the week.
If you want to get in on the hot vlog action, check out the linky here, and visit one of my favorite bloggers, Mommyfriend!
If all goes well and I'm discovered as an internet hit, which undoubtedly, I will be, I might just continue theon camera awkwardness fun.
Now, if you don't believe that I hold a baby and snuggle with a dog while I blog, here's proof, although the computer doesn't show as it is just to the right of me on the coffee table.
Stay tuned, readers. This is going to be EPIC. (oh dear. what have I done?)
EDIT: I just realized that I'll have an oppurtunity to win "a copy of the gorgeous coffee table book by Oprah Magazine, Live Your Best Life" by participating! Something to put on that coffee table to the right of me! Whoop!

Must....Press....On....
I made it through my week back to work. I won't lie, it wasn't easy.
I've been counting my blessings this morning though, because it can get too easy counting....non blessings? What is the opposite of blessing?
First, here is what's been buggin me.
Getting myself and Charlotte ready on time. Trying to time her morning feeding to be right before I leave for work.
Knowing that she is refusing a bottle, or is screaming until she finally surrenders.
Not having a work space at the office.
Learning that once I get a work space, I will have nothing to put in it, as someone (unknowingly) threw away a box of mine containing 2 years worth of printed references and guidelines.
Having like 3 things to wear.
Ok. deep breath. It's not so bad.
Here are the great things.
At least I have a job! There are people searching, and I don't need to do that.
It's only part time, I'll still get to hang out with my baby. We'll be patient until she takes a bottle again.
Charlotte has two grandmas that love her and look forward to taking care of her (free of charge! bonus!)
Vacation in (omg!) 2 weeks!! (omg!!!!) (You think I can lose 5+ lbs in 2 weeks?)
Charlotte is usually quite cuddly when we do have time together, and last night? She went 9 HOURS between feedings. that's 8 hours of sleep! for her, and me. Yes, I got 8 hours of sleep for the first time in 3 months.
I had an absolute meltdown on Thursday. I cried for probably 75% of the day. I was smart and brought my makeup to work, knowing that I had a rough night before...and I reapplied it at least 5 times. Like my whole face, not just eyes. The good news is that I think my tears healed my sty. I don't really know what got into me, because in this moment, I am feeling sort of better. C's pediatrician (or rather, the nurse at the office) reassured me that she will be okay not eating during the day, but just be prepared to feed her a lot at night. And although I had read that, I wanted to hear "Oh my. This has never happened before. You should probably stay home to be with her for at least 2 years."
Oh, and she either learned to fake cough, or she has a cough. I'm crossing my fingers for my little drama queen, and hoping that she's rehearsing for a new role. But judging by the congestion and phlegmy sound...she might have a little something. I choose not to worry at this point.
Okay. Back to "spring cleaning." Today, spring cleaning means doing some laundry and we'll be lucky if anything else gets done.
Happy weekend!
